About Markus Leitner
I’m Markus Leitner, a licensed Austria guide (Fremdenführer). I’ve led tours through the Hofburg since 2009, and I live in Vienna-Neubau, a 15-minute walk from Heldenplatz. This site exists because of a conversation I’ve had at the Michaelerkuppel more times than I can count: a visitor holding a Sisi Museum ticket, asking where the crowns are.
Why this site
The Hofburg is not one museum. The Sisi Museum and Imperial Apartments, the Imperial Treasury, the Neue Burg museums, the Spanish Riding School and the National Library each sell their own ticket at their own door, and there is no single “Hofburg ticket” that covers them. People queue for gate entry to the apartments, believe they’ve seen the Hofburg, and walk past the Treasury without knowing what’s in it. I built this site to untangle the five tickets — the prices page is the short version, and the complete guide is the long one.
How I work
I compare the tickets and tours sold for the complex, read what booked travellers report, and say plainly which product suits which visitor — including when the €20 gate ticket is all you need, and including one product whose middling rating I explain rather than hide. My reviews are written from that standpoint. I am not the venue and this is not an official site; the Sisi Museum, the Treasury and the Spanish Riding School are run by their operators, and where their official information matters I point to it.
How the site is funded
When you book through a link here, GetYourGuide pays me a commission at no extra cost to you — you pay the same price as booking with them directly. That funds the site. It doesn’t decide what I recommend; the affiliate disclosure spells it out.
